Welcome to Victorian Village & the Neighborhoods of the Short North

Welcome to the online home of Victorian Village & the Neighborhoods of the Short North.  The Short North Civic Association is the non-profit civic association for the historic neighborhoods of the Short North in Columbus, Ohio.  Whether you're a neighbor in search of news or someone researching the area for a possible move, we hope this site will offer you a broad picture of the historic district just north of downtown Columbus.

Be a part of Victorian Village's biggest event -
The 34th Annual Tour of Homes and Gardens!

The Tour and Preview Events are set for the weekend of September 20th and 21st, but the planning is already underway, and we need your help.

Consider putting your house or residence on the Tour and showcase what you have done to preserve and improve one of Columbus' most historic and beautiful neighborhoods.

You can also volunteer for a variety of jobs such as Tour Guides, House Captains, Ticket Sellers, Party Planners, and much more.

Being part of the Tour, in any capacity, is a great experience and helps raise funds for the Victorian Village Society, the neighborhood memberhsip organization.  The Society's primary challenge is to promote the restoration, preservation and maintenance of the historical district.

Your help in shaping this year's Tour is a great investment in your neighborhood and its future.

Noise Issues

Last summer we received numerous complaints about noise coming from bars in and around the neighborhood.  We forwarded the complaints to the business owners and the City of Columbus.  We were also invited to participate in a city sponsored working group that was charged with looking at solutions to this issue in all the urban neighborhoods.

This year Park Street Patio reached out to us and pledged to work with us to resolve the issue.  In order to do that we need accurate data as to noise issues you may encounter.  This will help the business owners determine noise levels at various points in the nieghborhood so adjustments can be made to the sound levels.  We have created an online reporting form to capture this information.  Please provide as much information as you are comfortable giving.  The more detailed you are, the more useful the information will be in rectifying the issue.  You may also want to use the city's 311 system for excessive or ongoing issues.

Thank you for participation and patience as we work to solve this issue.
